Overview

SMACNA Technical University provides contractors with practical instruction on SMACNA standards and their application in the field. This hands-on learning experience is designed to help contractors better understand how SMACNA standards support efficient project design, coordination, fabrication, and construction. The program will include technical instruction, group discussion, and small-team exercises focused on the standards and best practices most relevant to HVAC and sheet metal contractors.

• Review key updates to the HVAC Duct Construction Standards

• Understand requirements and best practices related to fire and smoke dampers for HVAC systems

• Examine HVAC air duct leakage standards and their application in project execution

• Explore industrial duct construction standards for HVAC applications

• Apply SMACNA technical standards to improve project coordination, construction quality, and efficiency

Eli P. Howard, IIIChief Operating Officer (COO) and Executive Director of Technical Services for SMACNA

Mr. Howard has been with SMACNA for over 30 years and is responsible for all SMACNA Technical Standards, Manuals, and Guidelines for the HVAC, industrial, residential and architectural sheet metal industry, and collaborating across the organization to advance key initiatives, strengthen member services, and support the association’s long-term strategic goals.

He will be joined by SMACNA Senior Project Managers, Geoff Parks and Shawn O’Hara.
