Overview

SMACNA Technical University provides contractors with practical instruction on SMACNA standards and their application in the field. This hands-on learning experience is designed to help contractors better understand how SMACNA standards support efficient project design, coordination, fabrication, and construction. The program will include technical instruction, group discussion, and small-team exercises focused on the standards and best practices most relevant to HVAC and sheet metal contractors.

• Review key updates to the HVAC Duct Construction Standards

• Understand requirements and best practices related to fire and smoke dampers for HVAC systems

• Examine HVAC air duct leakage standards and their application in project execution

• Explore industrial duct construction standards for HVAC applications

• Apply SMACNA technical standards to improve project coordination, construction quality, and efficiency

Eli P. Howard, III is the Executive Director of Technical Services & Research SMACNA. Howard has been with SMACNA for 25 years responsible for all SMACNA Technical Standards, Manuals & Guidelines for the HVAC, Industrial, Residential and Architectural industry. Howard’s prior experience includes both mechanical design with the world’s largest hotel corporation and project management with full service mechanical contractors.
